God’s Compassion and Promise of Deliverance

Exodus 3:7-10

God’s Compassion and Promise of Deliverance, Exodus 3:7-10

Scripture · Exodus 3:7-10

7The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the affliction of My people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings. 8I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. 9And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

Berean Standard Bible (BSB), public domain.

In the continuation of the burning bush narrative, God reveals His compassion for the suffering of the Israelites in Egypt: “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering” (Exodus 3:7). God’s compassion is not just a feeling; it leads to action. He declares His intention to deliver the Israelites from their bondage and to bring them into a land flowing with milk and honey. God’s love for Israel is evident in His attentive care and His willingness to intervene in their desperate situation. His promise to deliver them from slavery and to bring them into the Promised Land underscores His faithfulness to the covenant He made with their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
