Acts 2:37-38
Berean Standard Bible (BSB), public domain.
After Peter’s powerful proclamation, the crowd was deeply moved and asked what they should do in response. Peter’s answer was clear: repent and be baptized. This call to repentance and baptism marked the first public invitation to join the newly formed Church.
Peter’s call to repentance and baptism is foundational to the Christian faith. Repentance involves turning away from sin and turning toward God, while baptism symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. The promise of the Holy Spirit is given
to those who respond in faith and obedience, signifying their inclusion in the body of Christ.
The call to repentance and baptism is as relevant today as it was on the day of Pentecost. As believers, we must continually examine our hearts, repenting of sin and aligning our lives with God’s will. If you have not been baptized, consider taking this important step of obedience as a public declaration of your faith. Additionally, be ready to share the message of repentance and the promise of the Holy Spirit with others, inviting them to experience the life-changing power of Christ.
Prayer Focus: Pray for a heart of repentance and for the courage to share the message of repentance and baptism with others.
“Lord, I come before You with a heart of repentance. Forgive me for my sins and help me to walk in Your ways. Give me the courage to share the message of repentance and baptism with others, so they too may experience Your forgiveness and receive the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
